Instructions: This web page is
the companion to the Workshop Leader's Instructions: Ship Identification
"handout" found in the Week Five Workshop Leader's Guide. Use the
links below an the instructions on the handout to prepare for Activity 2:
Real World Problem Solving.
- (Step Three)
Use this
Atlantic Ship Map
to location ships in the Western Atlantic Ocean that are possible
candidates for use in Activity 2. Record as many Ship ID Codes as
you can on the "handout".
- NOTE: You
need to find a ship that is headed west towards the United States.
The "handout" will provide instructions on how to review the search
results to find a ship that will be appropriate for this activity.
- (Step Five) Search the ships
using the Ship ID Code in this
text table
- NOTE: Make sure that the ships that you select
from the list have Longitude coordinates between 35 Degrees West and
85 Degrees West and Latitude coordinates between 15 Degrees North
and 50 Degrees North.
- If none of the ships that you
recorded ID Codes for are headed west towards the United States you
should wait 3-4 hours and then repeat these steps as new ships will
likely become available.
